Comedy Crossing: The brightest spot in the darkest timeline
This is not an article but an amplification. If you’re having a difficult time right now — let’s face it who isn't? — Check out this show. Laugh it out among friends
Comedian Jenny Yang @jennyyangtv and friends have built something beautiful.
A place where no matter who you are you can come together for a few hours to laugh. It’s called Comedy Crossing and it is magic. Pure unadulterated fucking light as joy magic. The show comes live bi-weekly on Zoom at 7 pm Pacific time.
This Friday will mark the show’s fourth, with its inception on June 6, 2020. Stemming from Yang’s obsession with Animal Crossing and her passion for comedy and causes SMAMO! #ComedyCrossing. I stumbled on this genius after following Yang’s live readings on Twitter. The way she was able to bring complete strangers together for an hour of enlightenment, a moment away from everything terrible and horrible in our lives was pure inspiration. Eventually, Comedy Crossing was born, and I was 100% from the get.
You don’t need a Nintendo Switch, Animal Crossing, or much to attend, you don’t even need money. While they ask for donations (donations are taken via Venmo every show) it’s not required for you to enjoy the show. No two drink min, you aren’t even on mute. Yang and friends trust the audience enough to go ahead and let them laugh, clap and cheer.
If this sounds like something you’re interested in, it’s because it is unlike any other experience you will have with comedy or comedians. This show is truly unique and special, and you should RSVP for the next few months shows. If you don’t, I guarantee when the rest of the world catches on to how dope as hell the comedy club in Little Taiwan, it’s gonna be hard to get a Zoom ticket.
BUT GUESS WHAT!? That’s okay too — Last week an awesome article came out and the RSVP’s went pewwwwwshmooo up up up. Instead of limiting the joy, Yang said the show could be streamed on YouTube for the people who couldn’t get an RSVP.
This week’s show is on Friday, July 17th, 2020 and will feature Laurie Kilmartin (cosplayed by Amber Preston) @anylaurie16 Adam Conover @adamconover Ify Nwadiwe @IfyNwadiwe Chris Bryant @tenderchris — I love this show so much I made a crazy stan account, follow the show @ComedyStans on Tweeter. You can catch live screenshots of the only people able to make the world laugh right now.
